Full Time Programs

The Collective rates each of its course offerings on a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 representing an advanced beginner, and 5 representing an advanced student.

LEVEL 1 - Rudimentary skill level, basic instrumental technique, little or no reading skills, little or no performance experience.

LEVEL 2 - Advanced beginner skill level, basic instrumental technique, rudimental reading skills, some performance experience.

LEVEL 3 - Intermediate skill level, good foundation of instrumental technique, reading skills beyond rudimental, a moderate amount of performance experience.

LEVEL 4 - Intermediate to advanced skill level, good instrumental technique, solid reading skills, extensive performance experience.

LEVEL 5 - Advanced skill level, fluent instrumental technique, advanced reading skills, extensive performance experience on a professional level.

*Diploma programs start in the fall & spring semesters unless special permission is given by the Admissions Director for winter or summer entrance.*

DIPLOMA PROGRAM #1. TWO-YEAR DIPLOMA (LEVELS 1-5) 46 CREDITS
This is a two-year/eight-semester program for serious advanced beginner to intermediate level students who want to pursue a comprehensive plan of study, which will prepare them for a career as a professional musician.

DIPLOMA PROGRAM #2. SIX-SEMESTER DIPLOMA (LEVELS 3-5) 46 CREDITS
This six-semester program is for professionally minded intermediate to advanced level students who desire a more comprehensive long-term plan of study, including additional intensive work in two different areas.

This plan of study consists of: Certificate-A, Certificate-B, Performance Musicianship, Elective Intensive, Elective Intensive, Advanced Performance

*Certificate programs start in the fall & spring semesters unless special permission is given by the Admissions Director for winter or summer entrance.*

This six-semester program is for advanced beginner to intermediate level students who wish to include additional intensive work in a particular area, after a long-term intensive period of study.

This plan of study consists of: *Prep-A, *Prep-B, Certificate-A, Certificate-B, Elective Intensive, Performance Musicianship

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM #2. YEAR-LONG CERTIFICATE-1 (LEVELS 1-3) 18 CREDITS
This program is designed for advanced beginner to intermediate level students who want a comprehensive program designed to give the student a solid foundation in music performance and musicianship.

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM #3. YEAR-LONG CERTIFICATE-2 (LEVELS 3-5) 33 CREDITS
This program is designed for the professionally-minded intermediate to advanced level students who want a
comprehensive music training and study program to prepare for a career as a professional performing musician.

This plan of study consists of: Certificate-A, Certificate-B, Elective Intensive, Advanced Performance

CERTIFICATE PROGRAM #4. TWO-SEMESTER CERTIFICATE (LEVELS 3) 18 CREDITS
This single two-semester program represents the core studies offered at The Collective, and is designed for intermediate to advanced level students. During an intense twenty-week period students are exposed to course work in the areas of musicianship, instrumental technique, styles, professional studies, and performance concepts.

FULL-TIME PREPRATORY DIVISION COURSES

PREP PROGRAM - TWO-SEMESTER CERTIFICATE PREP (LEVELS 1-2) 0 CREDITS
This two-semester program is for advanced beginner to intermediate level students who want a solid foundation of musicianship, and a practical introduction to the foundation styles and technical skills required for further advanced study.
This plan of study consists of: *Prep-A & *Prep-B

* No credits are awarded for the remedial work done in the prep courses.
